This website was produced in the context of an undergraduate design studio lead by Prof. Ipek Tureli during Winter 2015 at McGill University's School of Architecture and presents fourteen proposals for Amal, a primary school for Syrian refugee children in the town of Reyhanli in Turkey. The studio created a collective and shared body of research and knowledge from which individual projects emerged.
The exhibition catalogue was put to together in order to raise funds for
Al-Salam School in Reyhanli, Turkey.

As the Amal Project progressed, it became evident that we wanted to expand this project outside of the studio and use it as an opportunity to raise awareness not just on the Syrian crisis but also on sustainable design and school design in such situations. Under the lead of Zinggy Zheng and Samer Richani, we started recording every meeting and interviewing students on what the project meant to them. This was also a way to showcase the diverse approaches that could be made to solve the same problem, as each student had a very different take on the issue. Above all, we wanted this video to be encouragement, for architects and non-architects alike, to take a stand for the children of Syria.
